WELCOME TO THE ABRAHAM JOSHUA HESCHEL SCHOOL! We are a unique, pluralistic Jewish day school, emphasizing academic excellence as well as awareness of social and communal responsibility through an offering of a superb integrated curriculum of general and Judaic studies. The Heschel School is a pluralistic Jewish day school named in honor of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, one of the great Jewish leaders, teachers, and activists of the 20th century. The Heschel School is dedicated to the principles that characterized Rabbi Heschel’s life. If a student is offered a place at Heschel, their family will receive information about financial assistance for which they are eligible, along with their letter of acceptance and their enrollment contract or re-enrollment contract. For Rabbi Heschel, the classical texts of our tradition provide laws that structure behavior, and the interpretive writings of our tradition provide poetry for inspiration and reflection. At Heschel, we see the teacher-student relationship as an essential feature in ensuring student academic growth and success. Heschel educators forge transformative, authentic bonds with our students through fullhearted discussions and open debate.
